With over 20 years of experience as a development practitioner, Rashad has worked on responsible and senior positions and continues to have consistent and passionate interest in policy and planning, capacity building, community peace-building, education and social development with a particular interest in culture and arts. Recently Rashad has worked on a comprehensive report titled: "Pakistani Youth - In quest of identity through art and culture" commissioned by the European Union Delegation to Pakistan. The research includes mapping of Pakistan' most important cultural heritage and artistic traditions. It identifies and proposes activities based on cultural revival and artistic traditions which would be appropriate to promote peace and tolerance in the societies across Pakistan through engagement of youth and local communities. As the Executive Director of Peace and Education Foundation (PEF), Islamabad (2012-17), Rashad developed and overseen implementation of a number of educational and Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) related projects with a wide range of local beneficiaries. He has worked and delivered on projects related to capacity building of civil society practitioners including media professionals, religious and public school teachers, faith communities and their leaders, civil society and community leaders, instructional and supplemental material development in the formal and informal education sector. He has led the processes of developing of two volumes of a Peace Textbook and a large number of training manuals and educational modules that provide a model for social and attitudinal change via working with the teachers, youth and community leaders from the grassroots level to middle and top leaderships. Rashad is also an expert translator from English to Urdu and is a prolific writer in both languages. He also has a passon for current affairs, history and Urdu literature.

The study will identify ways for youth in the country to to be transformed into community mobilizers with the capacity, skills and confidence to lead community processes and engage in promotion of tolerance , peace and coexistence.
Peace and Education Foundation (PEF), is an Islamabad based non-government, non-profit organization that works to mitigate the conflicts stem from identity, politics, and education and external sources. Under my supervision and direction, PEF successfully implemented multiple projects worth millions of dollars, relating to educational development, intra and interfaith harmony, peace-building, community development and leadership skills, curriculum development and research as well as training in soft skills with different target groups across Pakistan’ four provinces.
Based in Pakistan, has been developing and implementing peace-building projects in Pakistan and editing Common Ground News Service website’ weekly English and Urdu Edition on Muslim Western relations. Also coordinating training and outreach projects for media and civil society NGO’s. The Common Ground News Service (CGNews) seeks to promote mutual understanding and offer hope, opportunities for dialogue and constructive suggestions that facilitate peaceful resolution of conflict. It publishes and promotes articles by local and international experts on current Middle East issues and the relationship between the West and Arab and Muslim communities.
Research and Programme Coordinator in Pakistan for the International Center for Religion and Diplomacy, Washington DC. Among other things this involved assisting the Director of Education and International Development in the following:
• Developing programs and supporting resource materials for enhancing the capacity of the Religious Educational Institutions (REI’s.)
• Working with various stakeholders in Pakistan to facilitate their support for ICRD educational enhancement efforts,
• Designing strategies that support interfaith harmony and human rights,
• Creating acceptance within Pakistani religious, political and social circles for ICRD’ educational reform initiatives.
• Coordinating training workshops for madrasa teachers.
• Teachers’ skill enhancement since May to Dec 2006.
